Holiday Activities in Beckley, WV

After Thanksgiving draws to a close each year and November is in our rearview, we in the Beckley, West Virginia, area must find some last fun activities to round out the year. Luckily, there are numerous events happening in Beckley during the last month of the year to celebrate this festive season and get everybody in the holiday spirit.
One of the most widely celebrated events in Beckley around this time of year is the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine's popular event, Appalachian Coal Town Christmas. Curious visitors and locals alike come from all over to take the mine's unique underground tour. In addition, the event features horse-drawn carriage rides, a marshmallow roast, caroling, and a special bonus event from the Youth Museum, “Young Architects.” The Appalachian Coal Town Christmas event will be held on December 6th and 7th, and ticket costs are $5 per child and $10 per adult.
Speaking of the Youth Museum, it also features a slew of its own fun holiday events and traditions. On December 5th, 12th, and 19th, the museum will hold “Pre-School Holiday” art classes for the young ones in your family. Activities in the program include arts and crafts, music, stories, and playtime. In addition, the museum will also be showing a theater production of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” on December 1st.
