Fall Activities in Beckley, WV
Now that it’s finally fall, it’s time to get ready for Halloween and all things spooky! There are a ton of places to go in Beckley during the Halloween season. Some are scarier than others, but all are fun!
Here’s a short list of Halloween festivities in Beckley:
Movies at the Raleigh Playhouse & Theatre
Throughout late September and October, the Raleigh Playhouse & Theatre will be showing all sorts of Halloween classics, from The Rocky Horror Picture Show to Psycho. Other more kid-friendly films will be screening as well. Learn more here.
Spooky Nights at Lake Shawnee
At Lake Shawnee, there are two popular, spooky attractions: the Lake Shawnee Dark Carnival and the Haunted History Tours. You can explore the haunted, old Dark Carnival, or you can spend your time learning about the eerie history of the area, through one of the History Tours. Learn more here.
Beckley Haunted Coal Mine
Speaking of haunted, don’t forget to check out the Beckley Haunted Coal Mine, which is also a fundraiser for Theatre West Virginia. This event takes place throughout the end of October, every single night. Learn more here.
Soldiers Memorial Theater
Lastly, the Soldiers Memorial Theater was built in the early 1930s, and – rumor has it – it was built right next to a Civil War-era cemetery, which is why it supposedly remains haunted to this very day. You can check out the Memorial Theater yourself, to discover the truth! Learn more here.
